Most marriages are like mine–busy and messy. Though this may be true, I am adamant (and hope that you are, too) that we must place our marriage relationships before the long list of other things that pull at our attention. It’s God first. And your marriage next. Right?
Easier said than done. But, worth the effort! Perfection is not the goal or we’d never get there. Pursuit may be a better word to use. Pursue a healthier marriage, a marriage that is focused on who God is.
A marriage that is founded upon what God has done for you, for your spouse and for your family through the Person and work of Jesus Christ.
As Andy and I begin our 25th year together as a man and wife, we’re practicing the important things that we have learned to do over the years—pray together, forgive each other, read Scripture together, go on dates as often as we are able, fellowship with other Christian couples, and seek the Lord together.
In the busy-ness and the messy-ness. In our weaknesses! God is greater and He is better. His faithfulness will keep us focused. His mercy makes the difficult days doable. His strength sustains us. His love and grace bind us to Him and to each other.
Pray and decide for yourself—is your marriage worth it? If Christ is who He says He is (and, He is), then the answer is an astounding YES!
